USA Advances To Finals In Women’s World Cup, LaMarcus Aldridge Leaning Towards LA, Calipari Courted By Kings

SOCCER

Carli LloydIn the women’s World Cup, USA is an exciting team to watch.  They had a very tough test against Germany in the semifinals but they stayed tough. They got a penalty goal from Carli Lloyd and another goal from Kelley O’Hara to give them the win and send them to the World Cup Final.  The US will now play the winner of Japan v. England.  These women look like they’re on a mission, and appear to be a team of destiny.  USA 2, Germany 0.

BASKETBALL

NBA free agency gets in full swing, and it’s being reported that Portland Trail Blazers’ LaMarcus Aldridge is leaning toward signing with the Los Angeles Lakers.  Of course at this point, it’s only rumors, but Aldridge would immediately be a great asset to LA.  The Knicks are courting him too, using the weak eastern conference as a sell to get him to come there and dominate. The Spurs have expressed interest as well.  It’s hard to determine where he will go, but Aldridge is a solid player and would add a lot to any team.

And in Sacramento, the Kings have floated the idea to University of Kentucky’s John Calipari of possibly becoming the next Kings’ coach.  No official offer has been made, and Calipari has publicly stated that he’s staying at Kentucky, but you never know.  It’s hard to imagine Calipari bolting the #1 college program in the nation to coach a small-market team in Sacramento.  Although it’s possible he would be coaching a talented starting line up with DeMarcus Cousins, Rudy Gay, and possibly even free agent Rajon Rondo.
