Brady’s Deflategate Suspension Holds, Bell’s Suspension Reduced, Kentucky’s Serious Recruiting

FOOTBALL

Tom BradyIn the NFL, quarterback Tom Brady was suspended for 4 games next season for his role in deflating footballs against the Indianapolis Colts in the AFC Championship game.  Brady thought that his punishment was too severe and didn’t fit the crime.  He appealed to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell hoping to have his suspension reduced to one, or at the most, 2 games. Goodell upheld the suspension at 4 full games.  The punishment is a huge blow to Brady and the Patriots, and they will now have to turn to Jimmy Garoppolo to start the season.

Elsewhere in the NFL, Steelers’ star running back Le’Veon Bell had his suspension reduced from 3 games to 2.  Bell got in trouble last year for a DUI and marijuana possession.  The Steelers are happy Bell will play in week 3 as they have an explosive offense with Bell and the lightening fast Antonio Brown in the lineup. Former star Panthers’ running back DeAngelo Williams will likely get the start at running back headed into the season, and will serve as a terrific back-up behind Bell when Bell returns.

BASKETBALL

In college basketball, Kentucky head coach John Calipari said he is working on a recruiting class for 2016-2017 that could be the best ever in Kentucky history.  Kentucky always has an excellent field of recruits, but now it looks like they are targeting almost all of the Top 10 High School Recruits in the nation.  And, apparently, many of them are interested.  If the team is successful, the Kentucky dynasty will be hated even more than they already are around the country.
