Syracuse’s Boeheim Suspended, Chris Johnson Shot At Stop Light
BASKETBALL
After an 8 year investigation, the NCAA suspended Syracuse head coach Jim Boeheim for nine ACC games including not allowing the basketball team to participate in any post season tournaments this season (meaning no ACC tournament). The violations included academic misconduct and failure to adhere to a strict drug testing policy. Many student scholarships will be affected this season as well.
FOOTBALL
Former Tennessee Titan and New York Jets running back, Chris Johnson was shot at 4:00 am Sunday while stopped at a traffic light. The driver of the vehicle that Johnson was in died from the gunshot wounds. The police are still investigating this incident. Johnson is currently on the Jets’ roster but as of Tuesday will be an unrestricted free agent (meaning that the Jets did not re-sign him and he’s free to sign with any other team). Johnson is expected to recover fully.
