Bieber Bad Omen For Steelers, Rodgers Stunning 6 TD’s Over Bears, Crimson Tide’s Foster Ignites Crowd, Buckeyes Barrett Runs Over Spartans

FOOTBALL

Justin BieberJustin Bieber is apparently a big Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He showed up on Saturday night before their bible study to meet the players. A number of players tweeted about their encounter, but no word on whether the Bieber stayed for the study/prayer session.

Maybe that was a bad omen for the team as the Steelers lost to the lowly New York Jets. The Steelers just didn’t step up for this game. With 4 turnovers, they had no chance to win.  The Jets’ QB Michael Vick had two TD”s,  no interceptions and helped his team end an eight game losing streak. Jets 20- Steelers 13.

Green Bay Packers’ QB Aaron Rodgers had a stunning performance on Sunday vs the Chicago Bears. In the first half alone, he threw for 6 TD’s (yes 6!!!!) for a 55-14 win.

Good news for Detroit Lions’ fans as Megatron (Calvin Johnson) is back and healthy. Lions 20, Dolphins 16.

In college football, some great games on Saturday. All the top teams are vying for the final four spots in the inaugural football playoffs. The Alabama Crimson Tide (currently ranked #5) put on a show in their exciting overtime win over LSU. Alabama’s linebacker, Reuben Foster, ignited the crowd in the remaining seconds of tied regulation play. With seconds ticking off the clock, Foster sent LSU’s kick returner flying and the crowd went wild. It was great momentum heading into overtime and not surprisingly Alabama won 20-16. They are gearing for a spot in the playoffs (especially since Auburn lost a big game to Texas A&M on Saturday) and if they continue to play like this, they will likely get it.

J.T. BarrettIn another exciting college game with playoff implications, the Ohio State Buckeyes ran over the Michigan State Spartans. The Buckeyes started off the season a bit shaky when their starting QB Braxton Miller went down with an injury. The replacement, J.T. Barrett has truly come in to his own and is arguably one of the best players in the Big 10 right now. Ohio State 49 Michigan State 37.
