WATERCOOLER CHAT: REDSKINS PROBLEM, 49ERS PLAYING HARD, ST. LOUIS IN WORLD SERIES

FOOTBALL

In the NFL, the Philadelphia Eagles sorely needed a win this week if they wanted to have any chance at salvaging their season.  But they would have to do it on the road in Washington (a tough place to play when the Redskins are doing well).  Then again, it was finally time for Redskins fans to realize… that Rex Grossman is their starting quarterback (a guy who has been criticized for being sloppy his entire career).  Grossman threw 4 interceptions on the day and was benched for back-up QB John Beck.  But most of the story was on the Eagles side of the ball where LeSean McCoy rushed for 126 yards and a touchdown.  Now the Eagles are inching in the right direction, but the Redskins have a serious problem at QB.  Philadelphia 20, Washington 13.

And in Detroit, the Lions were hoping to stay unbeaten against an oddly surging San Francisco 49ers squad.  Many weren’t sure if the 49ers were for real, but a competitive showing in Detroit would prove that they are a force to be feared.  Niners running-back Frank Gore ran for 141 yards and a touchdown and the Niners defense had 2 sacks and 10 quarterback hits.  The Niners have a talented squad and sometimes all a quality team needs is an attitude adjustment.  Former Stanford coach Jim Harbaugh came in and made such an adjustment.  He has this team motivated and playing HARD!  Even Alex Smith, who has been desperate for a good season, is finally starting to look like a #1 draft pick.  The Lions have their first loss, and the Niners are 5-1.  San Francisco 25, Detroit 19.

BASEBALL

The St. Louis Cardinals barely made it into the playoffs.  But they got by the mighty Philadelphia Phillies and have been beating up the Milwaukee Brewers.  Their bats are just HOT right now.  And you can bet that Game 6 would be wild.  In just 3 innings we had 6 home runs.  You can’t exactly ask for much more as a fan.  The Cardinals were up 6-4.  And from there — they never looked back.  Behind clutch hits from Nick Punto and Allen Craig, the Cards piled on even more runs.  The Brewers simply looked sloppy out there, and couldn’t get a rally going.  Albert Pujols batted in another run in the 8th for good measure, and the Cardinals are headed to another World Series.  Now — get ready for a showdown of pure hitting power as the St. Louis Cardinals take on the Texas Rangers.  They may not be the Yankees, Red Sox, or Phillies, but these two teams look fantastic right now, and this series is a must watch.

WATERCOOLER CHAT: BREWERS/CARDINALS TIED, TIGERS FORCE GAME 6, LLOYD’S STOCK

BASEBALL

It was Game 4 of the NLCS between the Milwaukee Brewers and St. Louis Cardinals.  And the Brewers opted to put a veteran on the mound in Randy Wolf.  The Cardinals got out to the hot start behind home runs from Matt Holliday and Allen Craig.  But, in the 4th inning, the Brewers got a clutch hit from Yuniesky Betancourt — which brought a speedy Jerry Hairston Jr. to the plate.  The throw beat him to the plate, but an amazing slide helped Hairston avoid the tag and score the tying run.  Then, in the 5th, Ryan Braun showed up to the series in a big way by blasting a homer to put the Brewers up a run.  And from there, they wouldn’t look back.  Now, the series is tied 2-2.  Milwaukee 4, St. Louis 2.

And in the ALCS, the Detroit Tigers were staring elimination right in the face.  It was do-or-die against a very tough and red-hot Texas Rangers team.  This one was a back-and-forth game from the start.  Alex Avila and Delmon Young smacked home runs to give the Tigers the lead, but a solid hit from Josh Hamilton in the 5th inning brought in the typing run.  But in the 6th inning, the Tigers caught fire, hit some key RBIs and Delmon Young homered again to put the Tigers up 6-2.  In the late innings, the Rangers made a rally getting another home run from Nelson Cruz and an RBI from Michael Young, but… it simply wasn’t enough.  And the Tigers force a Game 6.  Detroit 7, Texas 5.

FOOTBALL

Finally, in the NFL, the Denver Broncos are looking to sell high on their Brandon Lloyd stock.  Lloyd was a #2 receiver at best for most of his career, but then he went to Denver last season and became a pro-bowler — something that nobody saw coming!  This year he has battled some injuries, and the Denver Broncos have decided to see what value they can get from him.  They’re clearly not contenders this season, and are trying to get a 3rd round draft pick for Lloyd.  However, it’s been rumored that Tennessee and Carolina have both expressed interest in Lloyd.  Those teams have a shot to make the playoffs (or in the Panthers’ case… a long shot, but a nice weapon for Cam Newton moving forward).  It will be interesting to see if Lloyd can continue his upward swing with another squad.

WATERCOOLER CHAT: TEXAS AND ST. LOUIS WIN, HOWARD INJURED

BASEBALL

It was Game 4 of the ALCS between the Texas Rangers and the Detroit Tigers.  The Tigers came into this game trailing 2-1 in the series and needed to tie it up.  The game began with a 2-hour rain delay, and after that, it was still a muggy night, with many fans in ponchos.  How would the Tigers fare?  Well, they got up to a 2-0 lead off of a double by Miguel Cabrera, but in the 6th inning Ian Kinsler and Elvis Andrus connected on clutch hits to bring in two runs.  And, also in the 6th, Michael Young hit a key single to bring in another run for the Rangers.  3-2 Rangers.  But, in the 7th, the longest tenured Tiger right now, Brandon Inge, a guy who was sent to the minors earlier this season, stepped up to the plate and blasted a home run to tie the game.  And again, we would need extra innings.  In the the 11th, the Rangers Mike Napoli hit a single to give the Rangers the lead, but the hero of the post-season, Nelson Cruz, did it again.  He stepped up with two Rangers on and blasted another 3-run homer to seal the deal.  This guy is truly on fire.  Texas now leads the series 3-1 heading into Game 5.  Texas 7, Detroit 3.

And in the NLCS, it was Game 3 between the St. Louis Cardinals and the Milwaukee Brewers with the series back in St. Louis.  And the Cardinals got right to work in the first inning.  Behind superb RBI hits from John Jay, Yadier Molina, Albert Pujols, and David Freese, the Cards were able to jump out to a 4-0 lead.  But, the Brewers immediately started their come back early in the game.  Yuniesky Betancourt brought in a run, as did a sacrifice fly by Brewers pitcher Yovani Gallardo.  Then they got a homer from Mark Kotsay to bring it within one run in the 3rd inning.  However, the Cardinals pitching has just been too strong this post-season and wouldn’t give up any more runs the remainder of the game.  They would hold on for the win.  St. Louis 4, Milwaukee 3.

Finally, in some weird baseball news, it looks like we might not be seeing Phillies slugger Ryan Howard for a while.  He’s had an achilles injury that was severely intensified running to first on the last out of the Phillies season.  If you do not get help from personal injury lawyer based in Pasadena area, then you’re missing out! “It looks like that injury will require surgery which will keep him out of baseball for between 5 and 6 months”, said Gibson & Hughes, attorneys for slip and fall cases.  Can the Phillies luck get any worse?  First, their all-star pitching staff gets upset in the first round of the playoffs (a team, by the way, that was specifically built to win the World Series) and then they lose their all-star slugger on the last play of their season.  That’s bizarre.  Here’s hoping Howard makes a speedy recovery. WATERCOOLER CHAT: LIONS ALIVE, RANGERS TAKE LEAD, PUJOLS THE BEAST

FOOTBALL

In the NFL, it was Monday Night Football between the Chicago Bears and Detroit Lions.  The Lions have been practically irrelevant for about 20 years.  This year, they’re 4-0, and were looking to stay perfect.  It was a slow going first half, but in the second half Detroit came alive.  Stafford lit it up for 219 yards and two touchdowns and Lions running-back Jahvid Best tore up on the ground for 163 yards and a TD.  The Lions are now 5-0, which they haven’t been since 1956.  The Lions remain tied for first place with none other than the defending Super Bowl champion Packers.  That face off will be a pivotal battle in the season.  Detroit 24, Chicago 13.

BASEBALL

A  super-exciting Game 2 between the Detroit Tigers and the Texas Rangers.  Detroit was hoping to even up the series, and the Rangers were trying to seal both home games.  The Rangers jumped out to an easy 2-0 lead in the first, and things stayed pretty status quo for a while.  Until, in the third inning, Ryan Raburn smacked a 3-run shot to give the Tigers a 3-2 lead.  But, in the 7th inning, Nelson Cruz blasted a game-tying home run.  And in the 9th, the Tigers found themselves with the bases loaded, but they couldn’t capitalize.  This one would require… extra innings, always thrilling in a playoff game given the significant stakes.  This time, the Rangers found themselves with the bases loaded, and who’s up?  Yep, Nelson Cruz.  He walked right up to the plate, and after a couple pitches, crushed it to left field for a grand-slam.  Game over, and the Rangers take a 2-0 lead in the series.  Texas 7, Detroit 3.

And in the NLCS, the Cardinals were looking to equalize the series with their division rivals:  The Milwaukee Brewers.  The Brew-Crew owned Game 1, but you should never count out a team as polished as the Cards.  The Brewers have a saying this season called “Beast Mode” — signifying when a player is taking it to the ‘next level’.  None of the Brewers Beasts would do anything close to the dominance of Albert Pujols.  Pujols just continued to hit extra-base hit after extra-base hit.  He had 5 hits, one of which was a homer, and brought in 5 runs.  Just a magnificent performance from the best player in baseball.  The Cards destroyed the Brewers, and now the series heads back to St. Louis.   St. Louis 12, Milwaukee 3.

WATERCOOLER CHAT: EAGLES NEED MIRACLE, RAIDERS WIN FOR AL, BREWERS UP ONE

FOOTBALL

In the NFL, the Philadelphia Eagles, once labeled “The Dream Team”, were 1-3 heading into a redemption game against the Buffalo Bills.  Everybody was picking the Eagles to win this game, as it was a ‘must-win’.  They didn’t account for the fact that the Buffalo Bills are actually a very good team, and very tough to beat at home.  The Bills jumped out to a gigantic 28-7 lead, but then Michael Vick and the Eagles came soaring back.  Jeremy Maclin, DeSean Jackson, and LeSean McCoy all accounted for Eagles TDs, and suddenly the Eagles found themselves trailing only 31-24 late in the 4th quarter.  All they had to do was stop the Bills, and they did, but… on a 4th down, the Bills lined up in an effort to draw the Eagles off-side.  That typically doesn’t work, especially at such an important time.  But this time… it did.  The Eagles flinched, the Bills got a 1st down, and that was all she wrote.  Now… the Eagles are 1-4.  They’re going to need a miracle to make the playoffs.  Buffalo 31, Philadelphia 24.

And, in Houston, the Oakland Raiders were looking to post a win following the death of their long-time owner Al Davis.  Davis was one of the most recognizable figures in football, and the Raiders would be bringing an extra step to this game because Davis would have wanted them too.  The Raiders fell behind early.  But then, the Raiders running-game started carving up the Texans defense, and, finally, the Raiders got a solid game from their high draft-pick wide receiver Darius Hayward-Bey.  He finished the game with 99 yards and a touchdown.  But the Texans had a surging drive in the final minute, and even got it down to within the 10 yard line.  With just 8 seconds left, Texans quarterback Matt Schaub ran it towards the end zone, but then got nervous, and tossed an interception.  And that gave the Raiders the win they desired.  Oakland 25, Houston 20.

BASEBALL

it was Game 1 of the National League Championship Series between two division rivals:  The St. Louis Cardinals, who miraculously beat the mighty Phillies, and the Milwaukee Brewers who finally feel that THIS could be their year.  The Brewers brought in former Royals Cy Young Winner Zach Greinke this year hoping they would get in just such a situation.  And Greinke delivered the stable pitching they needed to let their offense do the talking.  With homers from their stars Ryan Braun and Prince Fielder, the Brewers were able to put up a whopping 9 runs.  The Cards bats were hot as well, but not as hot as Milwaukee’s.  The Brewers now have a 1-0 lead on the series, but it is FAR from over.  Milwaukee 9, St. Louis 6.

WATERCOOLER CHAT: YANKEES STRIKE OUT, MIAMI WANTS LUCK, TCU WANTS BIG 12

BASEBALL

It was the much anticipated Game 5 between the Detroit Tigers and the New York Yankees.  After the Tigers won Game 2, their closer Jose Valverde declared that the series was OVER.  Clearly Valverde underestimated the mighty power of the Yankees as they brought the series back to New York.  Ivan Nova took the mound for the Yankees.  He got one out, then gave up back-to-back home runs to Don Kelly and Deimon Young.  2-0 Tigers.  The Tigers held the lead the whole way, but in the 7th inning, the Yankees loaded the bases.  They even got Tigers pitcher Benoit to pitch a walk with the bases loaded, and Derek Jeter came in to score.  3-2 Tigers.  Then, super high-paid Alex Rodriguez came to the plate.  Grand slam???? Nope, he struck out.  After that, the Yanks lost momentum and couldn’t get it back.  A-Rod came up again in the bottom of the 9th with 2 outs (exactly what they pay him to do) and… struck out again.  And that marked the end of the Yankees season.  Detroit moves on to play the Texas Rangers in the ALCS.  Detroit 3, NY Yankees 2.

FOOTBALL

And in the NFL, the Miami Dolphins are off to a horrendous 0-4 start.  Things didn’t get any better for them as it looks like they will lose their starting quarterback Chad Henne for the season.  Henne didn’t exactly impress so far this year, but he was still in charge of running that offense and now will pass the dim torch to Matt Moore.  Moore came in late in the last game, and actually led the Dolphins to a touchdown.  It’s rumored that the Dolphins are looking to bring in an established QB — like the recently cut David Gerrard or even Jake Delhomme, but many are speculating that the Dolphins will tank the season and hope to land Stanford’s Andrew Luck with the #1 pick in the draft — a prospect some feel could be the next Dan Marino.  And that’s exactly what Miami could use — another era of high times.

Finally, in college football, TCU has been an impressive mid-major conference team for the past decade.  They were the school that introduced us to LaDainian Tomlinson.  All of their success, including the impressive BCS Bowl win against Wisconsin last year, got them an invitation to the Big East.  After thinking about it, TCU doesn’t want to be a part of the Big East anymore.  Why?  One reason:   Big East football is practically dissolving.  Syracuse and Pitt are bolting to the ACC next year, and it’s reported that UCONN wants in as well.  Not exactly the coolest conference to go to.  And another reason:  The Big 12 also extended an invite, and the TCU Horned Frogs have accepted.  The Big 12 is also experiencing some changes, but it’s rumored that the Big East may merge with the Big 12.  Basically, college football conferencing is completely in flux right now.

WATERCOOLER CHAT: CARDS STILL KICKING, FAVRE’S WORDS ON RODGERS, GILBERT NOT MCCOY

BASEBALL

The St. Louis Cardinals were facing elimination on Wednesday night against a very tough Philadelphia Phillies team.  But this team has that never-say-die spirit that would keep the battle tough.  The Phillies got up quick in the very first inning behind Chase Utley and Hunter Pence RBIs.  But, the Cardinals weren’t intimidated, thanks to an amazing clutch-hitting game from David Freese, including a 2-run home run.   There was even a squirrel that ran across home plate during a pitch — then ran up in the stands.  Fun for the kids.  The Cards just wouldn’t back down and got the pitching defense they needed to hold off the Phillies in Game 4.   Now, the series heads back to Philly for the elimination Game 5.  It should be very exciting to watch.  St. Louis 5, Philadelphia 3.

FOOTBALL

Brett Favre went on an Atlanta radio station and had some choice words for current Packer golden-boy Aaron Rodgers.  Favre said he was impressed with how well Aaron is playing, but was surprised he didn’t win a Super Bowl sooner.  Now that’s a knock.  Favre said that Rodgers had the ideal situation when he became the Packers starting QB (something Favre forced Rodgers to wait 4 years for), and a Super Bowl should have been inevitable.  In response, Rodgers swatted away Favre’s comment saying that he was really proud of his team for winning the Super Bowl, and it took 53 guys to do it.  And for those keeping score:  Favre has one super bowl, Rodgers has one Super Bowl… and one Super Bowl MVP.  When Favre won it, Desmond Howard was awarded the MVP award.

Finally, in college football, becoming the starting quarterback at the University of Texas practically makes you a celebrity in the state.  It’s a position that every Texas High School quarterback wants to strive for.  After the Colt McCoy era, the heir apparent was set to be Garrett Gilbert.  Gilbert even played most of the National Championship against Alabama when McCoy went down.  Last year, however, Gilbert underperformed.  And this year… same thing.  Such a lackluster performance, that head coach Mack Brown benched him in favor of Colt’s brother Case McCoy.  Gilbert got injured as well and has decided he has no choice but to transfer.  He won’t get the limelight chance at Texas he was hoping for, and will hope to land a starting gig at a somewhat major school so he can show the pro scouts what he can do.

WATERCOOLER CHAT: YANKS-TIGERS TIED AT 2, PHILLIES HOLD LEAD, RANGERS IN ALCS

BASEBALL

The New York Yankees were on the brink of elimination heading into Game 4 against Detroit.  And you can bet that the Tigers crowd wanted to do away with the Yanks IN Detroit.  Fortunately for them, the Yankees put A.J. Burnett on the mound, a pitcher who gives up a lot of runs and makes NY fans extremely nervous.  He would have all the pressure on him in this one.  However, Burnett pitched quite well. He gave up a homer, but it was only a solo shot (rare for Burnett, as he usually gives up 2 or 3 run homers).  He left in 5 innings, with the Yankees up 4-1.  And then… the Yankees bats got hot!  Each inning they put up a few runs to keep piling on the lead.  And the Tigers just couldn’t get anything going.  They were way too anxious and nervous to get the win that they seemingly completely blew the game.  The series is now tied at 2 and headed back to NY.  NY 10, Detroit 1.

And in St. Louis, the Cards were hoping to take the series advantage with the battle back on their turf.  However, it’s really tough to beat the Phillies, especially when they have their THIRD ace on the mound in Cole Hamels — a man who used to be their #1 until they brought in Roy Halladay and Cliff Lee.  Hamels gave a terrific performance, allowing just 5 hits in 6 innings AND striking out 8 Cards, and the Phillies held the lead the majority of the way.  But, in the 9th, Yadier Molina hit a clutch single that brought in Alber Pujols and put the Cardinals down by only 1.  Unfortunately, they just couldn’t get another run, and the Phillies held on for the series lead.  Game 4 is tonight.  Philadelphia 3, St. Louis 2.

In Tampa, the Rays found themselves down 2-1, and needed a win to extend the series.  Remember, this team launched a 6-week campaign to try and just get into the playoffs.  They were even able, in the last game of the season, to jump ahead of the mighty Boston Red Sox for the wild card spot.  Surely they at least wouldn’t lose the series on their home turf.  They kept it close the whole way, but in the 7th Adrian Beltre homered for the second time to give the Rangers a 4-2 lead.  The Rays tried to get a rally going in the 9th, and did get another run, but just couldn’t get that extra kick to give them a tie.  And with that, the Rangers win, and head back to their second straight American League Championship Series.  Texas 4, Tampa Bay 3.

Finally, in Arizona, the Diamondbacks trailed 2-0 and faced elimination.  The Brewers simply have their number.  But remember, this is a team, like the Rays, who had a horrific start to the season and then found their form in the second half.  They have a terrific offense that is very hard to beat if they get hot.  And last night, they got hot.  Miguel Montero had some clutch hitting to give them a few runs, but the big blast came in the 5th inning when Paul Goldschmidt broke the game open with a 3-run homer.  That gave the D-Backs a 7-1 lead, and the Brewers simply couldn’t come back.  The D-Backs can tie up this series tonight, and then head back to Milwaukee with all the momentum.  Arizona 8, Milwaukee 1.

WATERCOOLER CHAT: PIVOTAL GAME 3’S, BUCS BEAT MANNING-LESS COLTS

BASEBALL

First up it was the pivotal Game 3 between the Texas Rangers and the Tampa Bay Rays.  Now the series was in Tampa, and they were looking to gain the series advantage.  And remember, the first round is only best 3 out of 5 (strange for a sport that plays 162 games to get there and then it’s decided by only 3 losses.  But anyway… the Rays got off to a good start when Desmond Jennings hit a solo home run shot to give them the early lead.  Then, a clutch home run from Mike Napoli of the Rangers and another key single from Josh Hamilton gave the Rangers a 4-1 lead. The Rays gave a pretty decent rally, getting another homer from Desmond Jennings in the 8th inning to make it a one-run game.  But, in the end, the Rangers held on for the victory and a 2-1 lead in the series.  Texas 4, Tampa Bay 3.

Next up, it was yet another pivotal Game 3 between the New York Yankees and the Detroit Tigers with the series back in Detroit.  And the Tigers were saving their ace pitcher Justin Verlander for this one.  Then again, the Yanks put their big dog C.C. Sabathia on the mound.  The Yankees got out to an early 2-0 lead behind clutch hits from Curtis Granderson and Alex Rodriguez that drove in runs, but then Detroit turned on their engines and made it a 4-2 game.  But in the 7th, Brett Gardner hit a beautiful shot to drive in 2 RBIs and tie the game.  The Tigers, however, left Verlander on the mound and he was able to keep the Yankees in check.  All worth it because the Tigers got a solo home run from Dmitri Young in the 7th inning to give the Tigers a leg up… and that’s all they would need to take a 2-1 lead in the series.  Detroit 5, NY Yankees 4.

FOOTBALL

Finally, it was Monday Night Football between the Peyton Manning-less Indianapolis Colts and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.  The Colts even made a change at QB, benching veteran Kerry Collins in favor of long-time back-up Curtis Painter.  Funniest thing is the Colts are used to Manning calling all the plays out there.  He’s basically their offensive coordinator.  With him in the box, head coach Jim Caldwell became more of a factor.  Surprisingly, the Colts put up a decent fight, getting 2 touchdowns from Pierre Garcon. The game was tied midway through the 4th quarter, but then Buccaneers running-back LeGarret Blount burst out a big run for a touchdown.  That was all they needed to ice the game and get out with a win.  The Bucs may finally be on the upswing.  Tampa Bay 24, Indianapolis 17.

WATERCOOLER CHAT: LIONS UNBELIEVABLE 4-0, BILLS LOSE STREAK, JETS IN TROUBLE, BASEBALL WRAPUP

FOOTBALL

First up in the NFL, the undefeated Detroit Lions looked to storm into Dallas and come out with a victory.  Dallas was favored to win the game, but the Lions play with some serious spirit.  The game started out ALL Cowboys.  Tony Romo had 3 touchdowns on the day, and the Cowboys went into the halftime leading 20-3.  It looked like they had it in the bag, BUT they didn’t count on the fact that (1) the Lions are good, and (2) Romo throws picks.  Romo threw not 1, but 2 pick-six interceptions to put the Lions right back into the game.  Plus, Matt Stafford connected with superstar Calvin Johnson on 2 touchdowns, and that was enough to put the Lions on top.  And they were able to hold on for the win to go 4-0.  Wow, the Lions are 4-0???!!!  That’s just crazy.  Detroit 34, Dallas 30.

And in Cincinnati, the Bills were looking to continue their hot, unexpected start as they took on the Bengals.  Remember this team just beat the Patriots, something they haven’t done in many years.  It was a close game for a while, but then an interception return for a TD and a Fred Jackson run put the Bills up 17-3.  Everyone thought they had it in the bag, but the Bills defense collapsed in the 2nd half and let the Bengals right back into the game.  Andy Dalton even connected with his tight-end Jermaine Gresham for a TD and also ran it in himself for a rushing TD.  Then, in the closing seconds, the Bengals Mike Nugent kicked a game-winning 43 yard field goal.  Cincinnati 23, Buffalo 20.

And in Baltimore, it’s pretty clear that the Jets are in trouble this year.  They may have gone into the game 2-1, but this Ravens game would be a true test for them.  The Ravens just came out storming.  Their defense caused a fumble that they returned for a touchdown, and a Ray Rice TD put Baltimore up 17-7.  The Jets defense tried to get them back into the game, getting a pick-6 for a TD, but Mark Sanchez and the Jets offense were just abysmal.  They just couldn’t get it going and in the 3rd quarter Mark Sanchez threw another pick-6 to the Ravens LaDarius Webb.  Next up for the Jets:  The Patriots, and that will be a real statement game for them.  Baltimore 34, NY Jets 17.

BASEBALL

Finally, it was a weekend of baseball playoffs.  In New York, the Yankees had to deal with a tough Detroit squad that was able to even up the series.  And in Texas, the Rays got out to a hot start in Game 1, but the Rangers were able to equalize in Game 2.  That series now heads back to Tampa tied at 1.  In the National League, the Milwaukee Brewers are red-hot and are cruising past the Diamondbacks with a 2-0 series lead, and the Cards are keeping things interesting against the mighty Philadelphia pitching staff.  The Phillies had the bats in Game 1, but a rally by the Cards in Game 2 against superstar pitcher Cliff Lee ties the series at 1 heading back to St. Louis.  Now the pressure is on everybody.  Start watching.
