WATERCOOLER CHAT: BILLS BAD, CUBAN IN TROUBLE, DAVIDSON TO WATCH

NFL

It was a wild Monday Night Football game in Buffalo, as the Cleveland Browns traveled to town to take on the sliding Buffalo Bills.  This game marked the 2nd appearance from new Browns quarterback, and former Notre Dame heartthrob, Brady Quinn.  Quinn put up below average numbers, throwing for only 185 yards and NO touchdowns.  However, his performance wasn’t as bad as Bills QB Trent Edwards.  Edwards had a TD pass, but was also picked off 3 times.

The game pretty much belonged to the special teams, as there were a total of 7 Field Goals in the game.  However, the Bills sure were hoping there would have been eight.  And here’s why:  With 1:39 left in the game, the Cleveland Browns marched down the field, and then their kicker Phil Dawson booted a beautiful 56-YARD KICK to put the Browns up 29-27.  The Bills had one last shot, and they put THEIR kicker, Rian Lindell, out there to win the game.  However, it just wasn’t the Bills night, as Lindell’s 47-yard kick went wide-right, which put the nail in their coffin.  Now the Bills, who started the season 4-0 looking like a Super Bowl contender, have dropped to 5-5 and will struggle to make the playoffs.  Ever since the 4-year Super Bowl appearance streak – it’s now a bummer to be a Bills fan.  Cleveland 29, Buffalo 27.

NBA

In the NBA, Dallas Mavericks loud-mouth owner, Mark Cuban, has been accused of insider-trading.  In basic terms, Cuban once invested in a new search engine company called Mamma.com.  He had 600,000 shares in the company and was told via phone call that those shares would sell below the current market price.  A few hours after the call, he told his broker to SELL SELL SELL!!!  That’s… insider trading, and Cuban’s situation is very similar to what Martha Stewart got in trouble for.   Of course, an investigation is pending, and more details will come out over the next couple weeks.

COLLEGE BASKETBALL

A spotlight has been cast this season on Stephen Curry.  He was the star of the Cinderella Davidson team last season who ran amuck in the NCAA Tournament, and fell just a few points shy of going to the Final Four.  He could have gone pro after last season, and would have been picked relatively high, but he chose to stay in college, and has since gained national celebrity status.  This season, Davidson is ranked #20 and Curry put up 33 points in last night’s win against James Madison.  This year, teams will be gunning for Davidson as they are anything but an underdog.  Davidson 99, James Madison 64.

WATERCOOLER CHAT: TITANS STILL UNDEFEATED, GIANTS POWERFUL

NFL

The Tennessee Titans put their undefeated streak on the line against the Jacksonville Jaguars.  The Jaguars have had a sub-par season due to some key injuries, but they are still one of those you-never-know teams, as any given week they can spring to life and beat anybody.  The Jags sprung out to a big lead on the Titans, getting two clutch touchdowns from their tiny running-back, Maurice Jones-Drew, and it looked like the Titans had finally met their match.  But, the Titans rallied back, not so much from their dual-headed RB ground game, but from a brilliant passing performance from Kerry Collins and his favorite receiver Justin Gage.  Collins threw for 230 yards and three TDS, and two of those touchdowns went to Justin Gage.  Gage finished off the day with a total of 147 yards, as the Titans took control of the game and improved to a perfect 10-0.  Tennessee 24, Jacksonville 14.

The day’s marquee match-up was a showdown of the explosive offense of New York Giants against the iron-wall defense of the Baltimore Ravens.  But… the Giants are just too powerful this season and Baltimore’s D was easy to dissect.  The Ravens usually stop opposing running games, but the Giants ran with ease.  Big man Brandon Jacobs ran for 73 yards and two TDs, and even 3rd string running back Ahmad Bradshaw had 96 yards on the ground for the G-Men.  Next week marks a huge showdown, as the NY Giants will head to Arizona to play the streaking Arizona Cardinals.  NY Giants 30, Baltimore 10.

Speaking of the Cardinals, they looked to do something this week that they hadn’t done in quite a while — win in Seattle.  The Seattle Seahawks have pretty much sat atop the NFC West for the past couple years, and they always used to demolish the Cardinals when they came up for a visit.  Larry Fitzgerald, the Cardinals star WR, told an Arizona paper that this season has been a thrill ride, but winning in Seattle would really make it special.  That would signify that things have changed for the Arizona organization.  Well, the Cards traveled to Seattle on a mission, and… prevailed.  Kurt Warner threw for his 4th straight 300-yards game, the Cards 3rd string running back, J.J. Arrington had two surprise TDs, and the talker, Larry Fitzgerald, had an amazing 151 yards receiving.  Arizona 26, Seattle 20.

This sets up a HUGE match-up next week, in what could be a preview of the NFC Championship Game.  The juggernaut NY Giants will head to Phoenix to take on Kurt Warner and the Cardinals.  This… is a can’t miss game, and won’t fall short in terms of excitement.  If the Cards edge the Giants, it will a big question mark on which team will represent the NFC in the Super Bowl.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL

The BCS rankings were released in college football, but there was no shake-up whatsoever.  #1 Alabama.  #2 Texas Tech.  #3 Texas.  #4 Florida.  #5 Oklahoma.  Some key games are coming up, however, and if one of the top two teams loses, we’ll have a gigantic mess in the BCS rankings — not to mention more backlash against the a highly controversial BCS system.

WATERCOOLER CHAT: ALABAMA STILL #1, GATORS ON FIRE, MICHIGAN DISAPPOINTING, UFC

COLLEGE FOOTBALL

First up, Alabama defended their #1 position against Mississippi State.  They got off to slow start, however, as they fell behind to the Bulldogs 7-5.  They rallied back in the first half, but only led 12-7 going into the half.  Not  a very convincing lead for a #1 team playing at home against an unranked team.  But, in the second half, it was all Alabama, and the Bulldogs defense could do nothing to stop them.  Next up for Alabama, in-state rival Auburn.  That should be an easy win, but… the surging Florida Gators await them in the SEC Championship game.  Alabama 32, Mississippi State 7.

Speaking of the Florida Gators, they look like a team possessed.  They took on #25 South Carolina (coached by former Florida coach Steve Spurrier), and it was anything but a contest.  Tim Tebow threw for 173 yards and twp Touchdowns, but it was the Gators running back, Percy Harvin who stole the show.  He ran for 167 yards and two touchdowns on just eight carries.  Fortunately, as mentioned above, the Gators will get a chance to actually prove their worth against Alabama, as opposed to simply being ousted from the BCS Championship based on calculations.  That will be a game you don’t wanna miss.  Florida 56, South Carolina 6.

In some frustrating college football news, the Michigan Wolverines lost again, and this marks their worst season in the school’s 129-year history.  This current roster is now notorious, as they will always be remembered for being the worst Michigan football team ever.    They fell to Northwestern in a forgettable contest, but come this off-season, this Michigan program needs to sit down and ask some serious questions.  Northwestern 21, Michigan 14.

NFL

The marquee match up in the NFL today, and one you might want to go to a sports bar to see, is the New York Giants v. the Baltimore Ravens.  Essentially, it’s one of the leagues most explosive offenses taking on one of the league’s strongest defenses.  However, Baltimore’s offense has looked sharp lately, led by their rookie QB, Joe Flacco.  It seems the Ravens might finally have a passing game, and that could give them an edge in this match up.

UFC

Finally, in the UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) former WWE wrestler Brock Lesnar prevailed over former champion Randy Couture.  This was the most watched match in UFC history, and Lesnar proved that he is to be taken seriously as an athlete, and not just an entertainer from the fake pro-wrestling world.  The popularity of this bout is good news for the future of this relatively new sport.

WATERCOOLER CHAT: COLLEGE ROUNDUP, LAKERS FIRST LOSS, UFC TONIGHT

COLLEGE FOOTBALL

The top two teams in the nation have very simple weekends.  #1 Alabama Crimson Tide will face SEC rival Mississippi State, but the Bulldogs are only 3-6, and shouldn’t put up much of a fight against the top team in the country.  However, last week, the un-ranked Iowa Hawkeyes beat a then perfect Penn State team, so… anything’s possible.   #2 Texas Tech, on the other hand, has the week off.  So they have nothing to worry about.

Many college football experts feel that the winners of the SEC Championship game and Big 12 Championship Game will play each other.  The SEC game will most likely feature an undefeated Alabama team against the surging, 1-loss Florida Gators.  If Florida edges ‘Bama, then they should earn the right to advance to the BCS Championship Game.  But first, the Gators have to get by #25 South Carolina.  Florida should prevail under star quarterback Tim Tebow, but nothing is guaranteed in NCAA ball.

Over in the Big 12, the championship game will definitely include two of these three teams:  Texas Tech, Oklahoma, Texas.  Texas Tech has the week off this weekend, but they have the Oklahoma Sooners to look forward to on Nov. 22nd.  Now that will be a showdown, as both teams are out to prove their worth.

Furthermore, among the 1-loss teams out there is #5 USC.  They have been dominating opponents ever since their debacle against Oregon State, and they definitely feel like they belong in the top two as well.  The BCS computerized system is heavily flawed, denying some of the best teams a chance to prove they’re the best.  Every college football fan on the planet is praying for some type of playoff system.  That tournament alone would bring a whole new audience to the game.  And that’s always a good thing.

NBA

The Lakers perfect start was finally put to the test against the Iverson infused Detroit Pistons.  Kobe put up 29 points for the Lakers, but the Pistons were just too much.  Iverson had 25 in the game, but the show belonged to Rasheed Wallace.  He had 25 points and 13 rebounds, and still looks as good as he did during his heyday in Portland.  The game ended with a monster slam from Wallace, and the Pistons improve to 7-2 and hand the Lakers their first loss of the season.  Detroit 106, LA Lakers 95.

UFC

Finally, in some rare UFC news, there is a HUGE heavyweight fight tonight between Randy Couture and Brock Lesnar.  This is a big deal because Randy Couture is an icon in UFC coming back to ring after a brief retirement, and Brock Lesnar is actually a former star in the WWE (fake wrestling).  However, you can’t argue with Lesnar’s size, strength and athletic ability.  Lesnar even spent a pre-season with the Minnesota Vikings a couple years ago.  He joined Ultimate Fighting just 18 months ago, and now finally has a chance to truly prove himself in the sport as legitimate champion.  Even if Ultimate Fighting isn’t your thing, this should still be fun to watch because it will be the most watched event in the history of UFC.   The characters involved alone make it thrilling.  It’s available on Pay-Per-View.

WATERCOOLER CHAT: BRETT FAVRE IS GOOD MOVE, CLIFF LEE WINS CY YOUNG

NFL

There was some Thursday night action in the NFL last night as the New York Jets marched into first place.  Going into the game, these teams were tied for first place, and it was a battle of The Legend Brett Favre vs. The New Guy Matt Cassel.  It was also a showdown between two coaches who do not like each other.  The Pats Bill Bellichek and the Jets Eric Mangini.  It was Mangini who blew the whistle on last years “SpyGate” controversy in which the Jets accused the Patriots of videotaping opposing teams play-calling signals.  So this game had a lot on the line.

The Jets showed early that they were to be taken seriously, as they pulled out to a 24-6 lead, but the Pats would battle back.  Matt Cassel would pass for 400 YARDS and 3 TDs, and his most important TD came with 1-second left in the 4th quarter, as Cassel found Randy Moss in the end zone to tie the game at 31 and force it to overtime.  In OT, the Jets got the ball, and Favre connected on a beautiful 16-yard pass to Laveraneaus Coles.  This put them in perfect field goal range, and their kicker Jay Feely booted a clean 34-yard kick to win the game.  Now, the Jets are in sole position of the AFC East for the first time in 7 years.  Looks like this Brett Favre move has paid off for them.   NY Jets 34, New England 31.

BASEBALL

Last night capped a true comeback story.  The Cy Young award is given to the best pitcher in each league, and last night Cleveland Indians pitcher Cliff Lee won the prestigious prize.  This is special because last year Cliff Lee was demoted to the minor leagues.  If this happens, as a pitcher you hope to just get another chance at the majors.  Cliff Lee got his chance and turned it into a dominant 23 wins at pitcher, and earned the most coveted award in this position.

NBA

Finally in the NBA, the Detroit Pistons got their first win with Allen Iverson in the line-up.  Many feared this trade would be somewhat of a dud for the Pistons, but it seems Iverson just needed a little time to warm up to his new team.  Iverson finished with 23 points and 9 assists, as the Pistons won 107-102.   The Pistons seem to be a good fit for Iverson because he has such a strong supporting cast, and now in the tail end of his career, he doesn’t have to carry the full load.  The Pistons seem to be jelling, and two games down the road they take on their first true test of the season… Kobe and Lakers.

WATERCOOLER CHAT: LAKERS STILL ON TOP, NFL REDUCING PRICES, TONY ROMO BACK?

NBA

Many have felt that even though the Lakers are undefeated, they haven’t played a team of substance yet.  A true competitor.  Well they got their chance last night against Chris Paul and the New Orleans Hornets.  And CP3 (Chris Paul III) in no way made it easy for them.  He had 30 points and 13 assists, scoring the brunt of his points in the 4th quarter as the Hornets were trailing.  But Kobe made that comeback impossible, hitting a clutch 3-pointer over new Hornet James Posey to put the Lakers up 86-80 with 1:08 to go.  Kobe said of the shot on Posey, “I just wanted to shoot it in his face”.  The Lakers prevailed and improved to a perfect 7-0.  LA Lakers 93, New Orleans 86.

And now, the Lakers are the ONLY undefeated team in the NBA because… the underdog Atlanta Hawks finally lost last night to the Boston Celtics.  Joe Johnson led the way for the Hawks with 28 points in an extremely close game, but the hero of the evening was the Celtics’ Paul Pierce.  He put up a whopping 34 points as the Celtics narrowly edged the high-flying Hawks 103-102.  Although Atlanta lost, it was to the defending champion Boston Celtics.  Nothing to be ashamed of.  Celtics star forward Al Horford said after the game, ‘We just want to be taken seriously’.  And they are certainly making this happen with an impressive 6-1 record.

NFL

Some good news for fans (of good teams that is).  Due to the struggling economy, the NFL has decided to reduce the price of playoff tickets by 10% from last year.  Perhaps the NFL is worried that an exciting playoff matchup would have empty seats.  Not good for TV broadcasts.  And now if you happen to root for one of the top 12 teams in the league, maybe affording a good seat on the 50-yard line might not break your bank.

Finally, it appears that QB Tony Romo (Jessica Simpson’s boyfriend) will make his triumphant return to the Cowboys this Sunday as they take on their bitter rival, the Washington Redskins.  He has been out the last 4 weeks with a broken pinkie, and the Cowboys have completely fallen from grace without him.  But now, with him at the helm, perhaps they’ll get they swagger back.  And if they don’t, the populist pick for NFC representative in the Super Bowl will be watching it from their living room.

WATERCOOLER CHAT: UNDERDOG NIGHT

It was underdog day in sports last night.

NBA

In the NBA, only two teams are still undefeated.  The first:  The Los Angeles Lakers.  However, with Kobe Bryant running the show, and armed with an incredibly deep team behind him, this doesn’t exactly come as a surprise.  However, the other team is A HUGE SURPRISE.  It’s, drum roll please… the Atlanta Hawks. Silence.  Chirp.  Chirp.  Chirp.  Yep, that’s right, the notoriously bad Atlanta Hawks, a team used to having exciting draft nights because they keep finishing in the bottom 13 in the league — that Atlanta Hawks team is 6-0.  They simply look great.

What’s the reason for this?  Well, the Hawks are sort of like the NBA version of the Tampa Bay Rays in baseball.  A team that’s terrible season after season, but also accumulating good draft picks every year.  Eventually, those guys jell.  And that’s what is happening with the Hawks.  Last year’s #3 draft pick, Al Horford from Florida, is playing out of his mind.  He even had 27 points, 17 rebounds, and six blocked shots against the Bulls last night.  Secondly, their forward Marvin Williams (whom they picked ahead of both Chris Paul and Deron Williams — both of which played on Team USA in the Olympics) is starting to actually contribute.  Combine these guys with all-star veteran Joe Johnson and put them all under the guidance of Point-Guard Mike Bibby (whom they acquired late last season from Sacramento), and you’ve got a really nice nucleus.  It all makes sense actually.  We’ll see how long they can keep it up, but they look solid right now.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL

The Ball State Cardinals, a team which is usually brought in by big football programs to be destroyed in front of big crowds, is actually undefeated this season.  They improved to a perfect 10-0 last night, defeating the Miami (of Ohio) RedHawks.  It was a blowout, and Ball State has won every game this season by at least 12 points.  Of course, they are unfairly being shafted from any major bowl conversation, but it’s a great feeling for a usually horrid football program.  Ball State 31, Miami (Ohio) 16.

BASEBALL

Finally, one last underdog story in baseball to seal off “Underdog Night in Sports”.  Tim Lincecum of the San Francisco Giants took home the National League Cy Young Award.  This is special because he was facing the best-of-the-best competition for the prize:  Arizona’s Brandon Webb (last year’s winner), Mets sensation Johan Santana, and Phillies star closer Brad Lidge.  Even though the Giants had a sub-par year, he was still dominant when he took the mound.  And boy did he have a fastball — averaging about 97mph.  Again, it’s great to see someone unknown and ignored step up and show they’re the best.  A feel good night in sports.

WATERCOOLER CHAT: MNF CARDINALS BEAT 49ERS, TREVOR HOFFMAN GONE IN SO.CAL, POKER

On Monday Night Football, it was a battle of two unlikely prime-time teams:  the Arizona Cardinals v. the San Francisco 49ers.  The 49ers got off to a good start this season, but have quickly fallen from grace, even firing their head coach Mike Nolan.  They were 2-6 heading into the game.  On the other hand, the Arizona Cardinals look GREAT this season — well-balanced and playoff bound.  It’s all been under the leadership of the aged Kurt Warner (formerly of the greatest-show-on-turf St. Louis Rams of 1999).  But he has finally taken and DONE SOMETHING WITH their high-powered receiving core (Larry Fitzgerald, Anquan Boldin, & now Steve Breaston).  And on Monday night they were hoping to finally gain respect on a national stage.  They fell behind early, but Kurt Warner rallied them back, throwing for an amazing 328 yards and 3 TDs.  He’s 37-years old!!!  This guy was simply born to play quarterback.  Then, with the game on the line, the Cardinals had an improbable goal line stand to save the game and improve their record to 6-3.  Note to the league:  Arizona is to be taken seriously this year.

BASEBALL

The San Diego Padres all-star closer, Trevor Hoffman, is finally finished in Southern California.  After 16 seasons with the Padres, he will move on to free agency and help out another team.  In baseball, the closer is bit of a mascot position.  Everyone expects his arrival at the end of a winning game (many times coming onto the field to the same theme music) and he becomes a celebrity home town hero.  When he departs, it can change the vibe of a franchise.  San Diego will miss him.

POKER

Finally, in a rare treat:  some Poker news.  And this is totally worth it.  The World Series of Poker is taking place right now, and that is something beyond special for poker fanatics.  All the pros participate, but what makes the event so special is that amateurs play too (if they can put up $10,000)  Poker is about skill, to be sure, but you also need a lot of luck.  And sometimes it’s the amateurs who get it.  That’s what happened this time around, as Peter Eastgate and Ivan Demidov, BOTH IN THEIR 20’S, are the last two standing and fighting it out for the championship.  Get this, the winner… receives 9.15 MILLION!!!  And the sore loser, he only gets 5.8 MILLION!

WATERCOOLER CHAT: SUNDAY WRAP UP

NFL

It was quite a Sunday in the NFL, as two teams remained perfect in some regard.

The Tennessee Titans entered their game against the Chicago Bears 8-0, but many felt that this is where they would fall.  The Bears have a good all around team (defense, running, and passing attack), packed full of ingredients to beat a team like the Titans.  The interesting thing about Tennessee, however, is that they too have a total package, BUT, they never turn it all on at once.  Their star defensive back, Albert Haynesworth, said that if all their parts ever jell at once, it’s going to be scary.  In this game, the Titans normally dominant running game was less than impressive, with their star Running Backs LenDale White and Chris Johnson running for a combined 22 yards.  But, all of the sudden, their normally dormant passing game sprung to life.  Kerry Collins passed for over 200 yards for the first time this season, and threw 2 TDs as well.  That… was enough to edge the Bears, and the Titans move to 9-0.  If the Bears can’t do it, who can?  We might just have another 16-0 team this season.  Tennessee 21, Chicago 14.

The other perfect record belongs to the Detroit Lions who moved to a winless 0-9.  They were clobbered by the Jacksonville Jaguars, who up until this game were struggling big time.  However, against the Lions, they looked as good as they did last season, with David Garrard throwing for 238 yards and 2 TDs, and running back, Maurice Jones-Drew (aka Mighty Mouse) rushing for a whopping 3 TDs.  The Lions looked worse than they have in past weeks, with newly added QB, Daunte Culpepper, throwing for a pathetic 104 yards and 1 TD.  Apparently, the Lions are best used to improve the self-esteem of an NFL franchise on any given Sunday.  Jacksonville 38, Detroit 14.

Elsewhere, even though the Patriots thought their season was done when they lost Tom Brady in week one, they have quietly accumulated an impressive winning record at 6-3.  They beat the ailing Buffalo Bills, captained by an impressive performance by back-up to the back-up running back, BenJarvus Green-Ellis.  He rushed for a surprising 105 yards and a touchdown.  He’s probably available in your fantasy league, so you should pick him up if you need help at the running back position.  New England 20, Buffalo 10.

And finally, the New York Giants improved to 8-1 with a hard fought win against Philadelphia.  New York proved that they had the league’s best rushing attack, as ‘The Big Man’ Brandon Jacobs rushed for 126 yards and 2 TDs.  But the Giants also have a quick, small-guy rusher in Derrick Ward.  He ran for 53 yards as well.  Between the two of them, they are able to steadily move the ball, and maintain long periods of ball possession, which tires out opposing defenses.  In this game, the Giants had the ball for 39 MINUTES!! Eagles QB Donovan McNabb still had a good game with 3 TD passes, but it just wasn’t enough.  NY Giants 36, Philadelphia 31.

The consensus Super Bowl prediction right now is definitely Tennessee v. NY Giants, but absolutely NOTHING is guaranteed in the NFL.  That’s why they play the games.

WATERCOOLER CHAT: COLLEGE FOOTBALL ROUNDUP

COLLEGE FOOTBALL

It was a crazy, upset day in college football.

The #3 Penn State looked to go undefeated under 80-year head coach, Joe Paterno.  The Nittany Lions have had some sub-par seasons as of late, but this season they have completely turned it around, looking National Championship bound every game.  All they had to do was beat unranked Iowa in Iowa.  The game was a back and forth battle, but, the Nittany Lions were unable to stop Iowa’s best player, RB Shonn Greene.  He ran for 117 yards, and had two TDs on the night.  Then, late in the 4th quarter, Tyler Stash had a key interception for the Hawkeyes and put them in field goal range.  Iowa ran the clock down to 8 seconds, and then their kicker, Daniel Murray, hit a beautiful 31-yard field goal to win the game, and ruin Penn State’s perfect season.  Now Penn State will join the fraternity of 1-loss teams hoping one of the top two teams loses.  Iowa 24, Penn State 23.

With that said, it was LSU hosting #1 Alabama.  And LSU had no intention of taking it easy on their former coach Nick Saban (now the coach of Alabama).  Alabama was also fighting for a spot in the SEC Championship birth.  It was a back and forth game, and Alabama got a lot of help from their NFL bound running back, Glen Coffee.  He rushed for 126 yards and a TD on the day.  With 3 seconds left in the game, and the score locked at 21, Alabama’s kicker, Lee Tiffin, lined up for winning field goal.  But… IT WAS BLOCKED!  Goin’ to overtime.  And in OT, LSU QB Jarrett Lee threw an interception in the back of the end zone, and gave Alabama a chance to easily win the game.  On the 1-yard line, Alabama QB John Parker Wilson called a 1-yard QB sneak for a touchdown to stay undefeated and continue to wear the crown.  Alabama 27, LSU 21.

While Alabama feels confident now, they better look out for #2 Texas Tech.  They are absolutely surging right now, as they manhandled the once mighty Oklahoma State Cowboys.  Texas Tech quarterback Graham Harrell threw for an AMAZING 456 yards and 6 TOUCHDOWNS.  He definitely looks like the Heisman Trophy leading candidate right now, and Texas Tech looks truly unbeatable.  They are a welcome surprise to the typical teams you see at the top of rankings, and a BCS Championship game between them and Alabama would be a match to remember.  Texas Tech 56, Oklahoma State 20

For those of you that don’t remember, Alabama used to be the most famous college football program because of their coach Bear Bryant.  Out of all the fans in the country, the Alabama fans are probably the most die-hard.  They follow the team EVERYWHERE.  And a watching them take on a new, dominant upstart program in Texas Tech would be incredibly exciting.  Lets see if both teams can stay perfect for this to become a reality.
